A Void, a lucky duck and a perplexed rider…

The starlit sky was clear barring a few wisps of clouds that lingered, the air cold and brisk as a Raven flew, seemly at ease in the darkness, it angled its wings giving a soft ‘kraa’ as its wings to land on its owners shoulders. Meeth raised a hand to pet the Raven as she followed the winding form of Void through the darkness. The duck happily perched on the dragons head as it had been almost constantly since the encounter with the gargoyle.

Gradually the worn path they were following that weaved its way amongst ancient hollow trees spread out into what appeared to be an old settlement, ruined stone buildings littered the area as greenery covered most of them, their entrances dark and yet… it still had a welcoming feel to it, as if at any moment the area could come alive. In fact the place felt so alive that it took Meeth a moment to realise that the statue nearby was in fact that a statue, her sword materialised, her last encounter with a construct still fresh.

Void halted, his numerous eyes blinking as they peered at the statue, he cocked his head waiting for it to respond, when no movement happened, he reaxhed out with the hand on his tail to touch…. Still no response. Huffing he snapped at it, why didn’t it move and play with them like the other one did. even the duck quacked at it curiously.

Meeth stared at her dragon and then sighed, the sword vanishing for now, the Raven meanwhile fluttered off to one the buildings, picking at something on the ground nearby. Meeth followed, casting wary glances at the statue as she neared the old building, part of the stones leaning against the massive hollow tree that lingered next to it, so much so that Meeth realised that the tree and the building were interlinked, and with enough space for her to fit in to look around…

Void‘s companion watched their rider vanish into the building before returning their full attention to the lifelike statue. He was confused, why wasn’t it moving … maybe it was lonely, grinning Void reared up, opening both sets of front limbs to give it a hug, even rubbing his head agains the statue… there now it wasn’t lonely, it could be Void’s friend.

Meeth was used to the dark, and her sight was good even with minimal light, there wasn’t much to find, the area appearing to of been picked clean, still she couldn’t shake the feeling that it didn’t feel abandoned or forgotten A sound from the Raven caught her attention and after rummaging around she found a few coins, the minting and image not any that she recognised. Still she pocketed them and headed back outside, part of her dreading what she was about to see… Void was well… Void.. Once outside she froze, closing her eyes slowly…

Void meanwhile patted the statue as if to reassure it, maybe it was shy? maybe if Void showed he wasn’t scary it would wake up… maybe… it would like the toy it had hidden? Void had brought it incase they were able to play again with the gargoyle. He let go of the statue settling back onto his hind limbs as he opened his jaw on his tail, revealing a purple plush toy, which he placed next to the statue. Satisfied, he returned to hugging it, and even went to so far as to lick the statues face, see he wasn’t scary…he was a friend…..

Expedition response for Void. Not sure that's what one does to a statues but then again Void isn't that bright. Meeth is salvaging ….. the raven is helping and the lucky duck has adopted Void for the moment
