[PA] Shear Rebellion - Duels of magic and swords
Anyone with a romantic souls would of thought two bonded riders meeting beneath the starlit sky would make their hearts flutter…. Not that this session raised by the pair was in any way romantic… or It wasn't meant to be. Meeth glared across at her partner as he moved the dagger between his claws, on her shoulder, young Mercy watched keen to learn as much as he could, his long antennae weaving. "Are you sure you know how to use that?" The enurian asked, arms crossed. This wasn't the first time she'd raised the question about whether Meiron could use crafted weapons. While she knew he was capable of protecting himself, now that he was hers, she didn't like the thought of him not having the ability to use weapons if need be.
Of course Meiron hadn't actually answered her question, either now or then, he'd instead proposed a duel…… all the while grinning. "Shall we see?" He purred back at her, his eyes narrowing as a small ball of fire appeared next to him. Mercy screeched launching of Meeth's shoulder….. No one had said anything about magic. Meeth drew the short sword she'd chosen for the duel, oh she loved him, but he was so .. So.. Infuriating at times. She shifted her stance, getting a feel for the smaller sword. "First to 3 hits wins." Meiron nodded. "Mercy? Call them." The young dragon nodded from his perch.
Suddenly the small wisp blazed, and a bolt of fire headed her way, the speed startling her so that by the time she moved out of the way the bolt would of struck her shoulder, and had Meiron not smothered it, done some damage to her, for she'd never really went up against magic much. "Hit." Mercy called out even as Meeth closed the distance between them, her sword moving quickly enough that it grazed Meiron's cheek. "Hit." Mercy called again, making it even between the two. "Touche." The navy bestia purred moving back at the same time as Meeth, the pair circling one another.
Mercy's talons grasped the rock as he watched his rider and the cat circling, the stars above the training ground at the fort still visible despite the torched lit ….. And it was from one of these that Meiron crafted another bolt, the fire racing towards his rider once more, and while Meeth blocked with the sword, the embers sparked around her, falling as Mercy called out for the second hit of the match. Without giving her time to recover Meiron moved in the dagger he'd merely been holding swinging towards her. The hatchling held his breath, as Meeth deflected the next attack, but the fire appeared to of damaged the sword and it struggled to hold up against the dagger the cat wielded. He watched, so close was his rider to hitting Meiron, but the cat kept slipping past her attacks, his grin showing just how much he was enjoying this.
As the dagger came her way again, Meeth parried, but the short sword bent, the cooling of the fiery metal in the night sky making it brittle. A touch of metal against her throat as the cat pressed against her. "Meiron wins" Mercy called out, flapping over to them. "So what have you learned." Meiron all but purred, the dagger still pressed against her throat. Meeth breathed out slowly. "You know how to use a dagger…" She said accusingly, reaching up to move the dagger away as the cat laughed. "Yeeees. I don't usually have one on me hence why I don't use it normally." He cocked his head though made no move to put any distance between them earning a glare from his mate. "You need more exposure to magic, that threw you off… I've seen how you move, had I just had the dagger, you would of won." Meiron finally let go, more so because the young mercenary hatchling wanted to join the discussion. "Isn't there a limit to how much magic you can use?" Mercy asked, settling back onto Meeth's shoulder, head cocked it hadn't felt like dragon magic afterall. "Clever dragon." Meiron commented. "You're right, I can only so much at any time." A note filtered into the cats voice, at this Meeth reached out to place a hand on the cats chest. She knew he'd once been able to do far more than he could now. At her touch, Meiron grinned, the note vanishing. "Now, if you want to train some more, I suggest the hot springs…." he laughed as Meeth blushed much to Mercy's confusion, though her hand remained on the cats chest.
