[Gift] The 11th Hour | Partridge
They were creatures, monstrous in form and perhaps in nature if you were only to glance but never know, never seek. They were demons of the deep, dark ocean, creatures that perhaps the light should never have shone on, they were in some ways grotesque. One of these demons didn’t look as horrific as the other and yet here she was, side by side with this hideous creature. She held no shame being in a relationship with a dragon like Abe, he was beautiful to her. The greenish blue of him was covered in specks of dancing blue light, fins of wondrous colors that shined even more beautifully in the sunlight. She shared some of his features, blueish green however her shimmering specks were limited to her darkened points but she was still beautiful nonetheless. At first glance, she was the most normal dragon in the relationship, no strange opened mouth or goopy shapeless limbs, so why was she a monstrous creature as well? Who knew?
They stood, outside of the water, the sun dancing across their freshly wet scales, shimmering like bright fish. It was Creasha who had left first, Abe following curiously behind her. She had spotted it first, a rather fat bird of sorts, or perhaps it was just round? It was black and tan and grey all at once. When the two dragons had slinked out of the water it had only been one bird they had spotted but as they drew near they noticed it was not one but a whole flock of fat birds. A thought shot across Creasha’s mind, partridges, they were partridges, regardless of what they were, the two monstrous creatures were about to find out how good they tasted. Abe was the first to lunge, dragging his grotesque body across the ground like a mutant beast. The birds scattered in a frenzy, panic evident as they cried out. Abe managed to get ahold of one and Creasha went for another, it leapt into the air flapping its wings aggressively in an attempt to escape its attackers but it was no use. Creasha reared onto her back legs, wings spreading to help hold her balance as she snapped up the fleeing bird.
Her mouth opened as she did, her head and jaw splitting into four sections, a disgusting wet noise wringing out as it did. If the partridge could feel any proper emotion it might have thrown up in its little beak but alas, it didn’t have time to process anything before Creasha’s mouth snapped back together with a loud SNAP. Ah. So that was what made her a monstrous creature as well. She smiled to herself and then at Abe, rather pleased with themselves. Abe tilted his head, bird clutched in his very strange mouth, eyes bulging in a way that some might find concerning but not Creasha. When she approached the strange male she dropped the partridge without much thought, her mouth opened slightly, her forked tongue sliding out to give the other dragon a loving lick. Abe seemed to lean into it ever so slightly before Creasha pulled away and settled down to enjoy their partridge lunch.
