[Gift] The 11th Hour | Aurora

Nightmare tilted his head in amusement. How odd it was to keep bumping into this dragon, once during his final grand display trial and once more before that. The first time they met had been a fight, it had been something nasty, a disturbing battle of wills that Nightmare had inevitably won, but the other dragon had managed to swipe the very thing they had been fighting over. So yes, this stranger had fled but she had fled with her new prize. Nightmare had won the battle sure but had apparently not thought far enough ahead to win the war. He told himself that that wouldn’t happen again. Yet in his final grand display trial he had brought her a gift of sorts, food, and instead of picking a fight with her, he had given it to her freely and she had taken it gladly. Or as gladly as you can take food from a dragon that had previously tried to potentially kill you over the same thing. He almost chuckled to himself as he remembered how sketched out she had been when he appeared but seemed to relax as he immediately took off again.

Now here they were again, meeting a third time, they eyed each other, eight eyes trying to keep track however many eyes it was that Nightmare had. As hard as she tried, neither Ethora or Delta could quite count how many eyes they could see, not that it was a priority but still she bristled, as best as possible with no fur, at the bigger dragon. Was he here for another fight? Over what? She had nothing worth fighting over for at the moment, she was just here waiting for the northern lights to appear. She enjoyed watching them, sometimes they matched her nebula and it gave her a small bit of joy but now that joy would definitely be ruined. However the larger dragon did not start a fight, in fact much to her disbelief he had sat? Laid? Down a little ways away but still close enough to see and hear. For a while they sat in silence, Ethora and Delta refusing to look away from him but also refusing to talk. She didn’t like how he watched her, a strange smile never leaving his smug face, Delta bared her teeth at him but they made no move to actually do anything.

As if on queue Nightmare looked away from Ethora and Delta, glancing up at the sky and the other dragon did the same, the Northern lights had begun to appear, dancing slowly across the sky in a breathtaking display. Purple, Pink, Green shimmering mesmerisingly together, lighting up the night with unbelievable beauty. Ethora and Delta almost forgot that the other dragon was there and jumped a little when he spoke. “It is also called an Aurora. There are southern lights as well but those are a different color, the northern one matches you better.” Both Ethora and Delta stared at him almost dumbfounded, not at the new information but at the fact Nightmare had said the first word. Nightmare stood up then, the smug look back on his face as he walked past her, a wild hand flicking out to gently brush against the bottom of Ethora’s jaw and she shuddered in what might have been disgust. The other dragon chuckled darkly as he left.
