Stargazing with Gods

The day had been nice, perfect for doing whatever needed doing, not too hot and not too cold, perhaps to some this would be a day perfect for doing absolutely nothing but not God. No. God had other plans. This was exciting, he was meeting her again for a third time. Their second meeting where he had brought her a whole mammoth must have worked because here he was again, attempting to woo her for the second time and much to his relief she didn't look as uninterested as last time. He clawed at the grassy land underneath his feet, excited yes but also a bit nervous. Boney Jones hadn’t flat out told him she wasn’t interested…sure she had accepted his gift but she still did not speak to him. To be fair God didn’t really speak at all, so he had no right to judge whether someone should speak to him or not. He communicated primarily through movements, grunt and a deep rumbling sound that seemed to travel through the earth, something you could feel for at least 100 yards.

He tried to use that noise sparingly, knowing that sometimes it would spook the nesting dragons visiting Gabriel’s spring. To be fair, him just quietly minding his own business would spook the nesting dragons, his tail drooped a little as he thought about it. His thoughts were quickly taken by a different noise, the light stepping of hooves on the ground. He glanced around and spotted her making her way slowly, almost cautiously towards him. His tail lifted slightly, his mood immediately elevated as she grew closer. So his first gift had really truly worked, he was glad he had read her well enough to pick the mammoth over smaller prey. Today however, there was no offer of food, sure that the mammoth the other day was more than enough food to last her awhile, whether she shared that food with the other dragons she lived with or not was another story.

He dipped his massive head to her and rumbled in greeting as quietly as he could. Regardless of how quiet he was trying to be, he noticed Boney Jones stop for a moment and glance at the ground and then back up at him before continuing her approach. He had found and picked this spot specifically for its open fields, no trees to disturb and a perfect view of the sky. The sun had begun to set when God had first arrived and it had continued to set as Jones arrived. God settled into a lying position, making himself as comfortable as possible, it made him look much smaller than he really was and while he knew his size didn’t seem to bother Jones that much, he still liked seeming smaller than he was. She sat beside him, quiet, still as a statue and as pretty as the finest carved stone. There was a tiny sparkle in his eye as he watched her out of the corner of it. The celestial along his back seemed to dance with his thoughts and Jones seemed to watch it out of the corner of her eye. When darkness had fully fallen and the stars were shining brightly they both turned their full attention to the sky, full of stars and stunning beyond words.

Perhaps this little breeding pair were meant to be because not long after the beginning of their silent vigil, a shooting star shot across the sky, a wondrous sight to behold. Sure shooting stars weren’t all that uncommon in the chronoscope, where anything could happen, but right here, right now, it was perfect.
