The Nest of Gods

He was kind, very kind, perhaps too kind? For a dragon of his size she had expected him to be more threatening? And his size and face were threatening for sure but when you took a step back from that and focused on his personality he was more like a giant, scary, teddy bear? He was light grey, covered from head to toe with feathers, the most prominent were on his head, pale yellow to go with the markings on his face. The biggest of the feathers were on his feathered tail and boy were they BIG! She reckoned they could be used as a canopy of some sort for a rider or perhaps a soft bed? He had rings on his fingers and dark black and purple celestial that lined his back like a blanket. He really was a sight to behold and she itched at the thought of just what he might do to court her.

God eyed the much MUCH smaller dragon with curiosity, a twinkle in his eye that might have made more untrusting dragons flee in fear of what he might do. But surprisingly she seemed to hold no fear of him. She who he could scoop up and perhaps crush if he was as monstrous as people assumed he was but he was not monstrous. In size and looks perhaps but not much else. She was a dusty brown, hooked beak on a head with red mischievous eyes, covered in head to tail with feathers, just like him. Where he had celestial coating on his back, she was covered  in a marking that seemed to try and hide the markings underneath but with little luck. Her feathered tail swished behind her as the observed one another and his own massive feathered tail seemed to mimic the motion, sending a gust of wind rustling through the trees behind him.

When they seemed to have had enough of their curious observation Artemis let out a small chitter of approval, smiling cheekily at him, brushing her feathered tail against his giant leg. In return he let out a deep rumble that shook the earth beneath Artemis’ feet and she almost shuddered in delight. She sighed happily, blinking her beautiful, gleaming eyes up at him, how wonderful he was. She hoped the babies they would have would be as wonderful as him, as pretty as her. She wished for them all to be perfect. When the rumble had stopped, God began to move, gesturing kindly, without a word for Artemis to follow. This was it, the moment she had been waiting for, the moment she figured out what the colossal dragon had prepared in order to gain her affection further.

He led her carefully and quietly, almost too quietly for a dragon his size but she didn’t mind, not one bit. He led her to another open area, but this one seemed protected by a wall of thick trees but the trees seemed to curve and bend into what one could assume was a passageway. He gestured her forward into the entrance and when she arrived on the other side she turned to glance back at him and smiled as she watched his head peek at her from over the trees. Boy was he tall. She turned her attention to the center of the clearing and gasped at what she saw. It was a nest, a bit big but that was okay. It was decorated in gems that matched her eyes perfectly and in the center was a layer of his giant feathers, making it a perfectly soft and comfortable place to lay a clutch of eggs and wait for them to hatch. “This is absolutely perfect~.”
