Perfect Illusions
She blinked curiously up at the colossal dragon. She wasn’t exactly what she had had in mind when she had created the illusion but he was the dragon who came and what a specimen he was. She wouldn’t lie, when she had heard the footsteps drawing closer and closer, heavy and intimidating she thought for sure she would either have to run or perhaps fight, even though running was her first priority. And flight would definitely had been the correct move because he was uncomfortably large, intimidating with a mouth full of massive razor sharp teeth. She had tensed at first, preparing for the worst but when he saw her, he made no move to come closer. She had realized pretty quickly that he had noticed he had spooked her and the feathers on his head had drooped along with his tail. She felt a little bad to be honest, the way he managed to look like a nervous puppy, while being fully able to smoosh her by accident was amazing.
She watched him for just a moment longer before beckoning him closer, his crest perked up again and his tail stopped dragging on the ground. Stardust had to suppress a noise at how cute it was and she was sure his tail would even wag but it was as if he knew that wagging a tail that big might cause more harm than he would have liked. Her point was proven when he took a few steps forward, his tail moving, simply following the motion of his body, but it caused the slightest ripple of wind to rattle some of the leaves along to ground. She noticed how his footsteps were not the loud thundering ones she had heard before but quiet and she realized he had made such heavy footsteps before to alert her that he was coming and that he was BIG. How very thoughtful he was.
Her illusion must have really been something to catch this very nice, very handsome dragon's attention. To be honest she wasn’t really making the illusion to catch anyone's attention, more so practicing to draw a dragon’s attention later on and it clearly worked because here they stood, watching each other with interest. She supposed a clutch with him wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen, good practice. She almost snorted to herself but held it back. “I’m Stardust.” He tilted his head curiously, he didn’t talk much, he could but it was easier to let others assume he couldn’t. He didn’t much like his voice, he was scary enough without it. “I am God.” His voice sent shivers down the smaller dragons back, there was a deep rumble to it, a gruffness that could only come from rarely ever talking out loud. Her eyes widened slightly and her spaded tail flicked in anticipation. God watched her nervously, should he not have said anything? Before he could look too dejected Stardust spoke again. “What a voice.” It wasn’t mocking or disgusted but stunned in a good way…enraptured perhaps? Like she had never heard a voice quite like that and like she wanted to hear it again sometime.
She seemed to come closer, no fear or hesitation in her body and she sat, sitting up on her hind feet and reaching up with her front hands, she opened her wings to better balance herself. He lowered his head, curiously and she rested her hands on his well sculpted face. She gazed at his small blue eyes, like an ocean in a glass ball, she ran her fingers over his orange cheek and against his massive teeth. He let out his signature low, deep rumble and she paused for a moment, feeling it through her hind legs but continued her light touch as his eyes slipped closed, clearly enjoying her observation of him.
