[PA] Shear Rebellion - Blowing up a robot
The open expanse of the testing room spread out before her, the mechanical blips and sounds a backdrop for the fight that had ensured and was ongoing, the arms damaged already from the combined attack of Meeth and Rathiel. Yellow orbs stared back at Meeth, emotionless, and like nothing she’d seen before , even on thunder dragons. Rathiel stepped outwards his tail lashing in warning… meanwhile Mercy snuck along, unseen… for now. This. this was the robot the shear Rebellion had been worried about, so much so that they’d reached out to ask her for help.
The facility itself had been well hidden amidst the dark covered mountains, the forest that dwelled in the shade masking the construct, only given away by the straight lines that broke the grass, such straight lines a rare occurrence in nature, that and the Shear Rebellions info had been spot on. The approach had been simple enough, no guards to give away the entrance… protected only by a mechanical lock…. Which Mercy had happily overrode … antennae weaving as he just let stray wisps of thunder magic wreak havoc on it… and which a gasp of air, the door opened… followed by a micro explosion as the lock blew up, startling the young dragon. When no alarms had gone off, Meeth had gone on alert, more suspicious of the lack of guards and alarm, potentially making this entire facility a trap. Her dragons, both picked up on her increased caution, and adjusted according. Mercy resting on Rathiels back, keeping a lookout as the older wyvern led they way. From the entrance way three doors blinked. Meeth slipped to left, the door opening automatically to reveal an eating room, the food left on the white tables, and steam still rising from hot drinks. Solidifying her suspicion that this was a trap and that anyone living and evacuated. An hidden alarm maybe?
She glanced at the central door, its sheer bulk a worry. A irritated hiss sounded from the right, to see Mercy’s antenna weaving from atop his perch on the much larger dragon, Rathiel keeping a wary eye out, the lock blinking red. His tail swung out at the pad in his anger, grumbling under his breath and folding his wings tight. A slight smile crossed Meeths face before she looked at the central door.. Touching it the door opened, a complete opposite to the locked door to their right, the two halves sliding apart to reveal a large room, more than double her height, to the right what looked like a glass panel. But her gaze was on the metal construct at the back, the metal dam and lifeless…. And yet, both dragons tensed, Mercy especially could sense something off, her thunder heritage while untrained gave her an instinct for these things.
For a few minutes silence prevailed, broken by the soft breathing of Meeth and the two dragons until it was broken by a click, and a spark of electricity surged though either end of the room, its target … the mechanical construct slowly stirring to life. Yellow orbs started to gleam, and with the metal started to move, blips, whistles and hissed now sounded in the room as it lumbered upright. A whoosh of sound echoed and the construct jerked forward, flames bursting from pipes on its back, Rathiel screamed a warning and darted one way, Mercy on his back, meanwhile Meeth held her ground until the very last moment, before rolling the other way, the robot crashing into the now sealed door and shattering it… shaking of rubble it turned, yellow gave focused not on the dragons, but on their rider… it’s programming built that it knew taking out a dragons rider would deal the most damage and eliminate the entire group.
Meeth drew her sword, not her soul bound one or even one she'd forged herself, but one given from the Rebellion with electrical properties to specifically deal with mechanical constructs. Rathiel charged, body low and wings tucked tight to protect them as he closed the distance between him and the robot, as he neared he spun, long and powerful tail lashing at the robots arm, the spiked penetrating deep, for his avian like appearance belied the strong earth heritage. The poweful Snap of the attack striking true, and with enough force to move the robot. Meeth followed up using the sword to strike at the join between body and arm, the electrical currents sparking as and the robot stumbled momentary before power surged and it moved away... its focus remaining fully on Meeth... and not on the small wyvern slinking round... Both Meeth and Rathiel knew what the hatchling was up to.... and they worked together to keep the robots attention on them, it was not without its dangers, for the robot was larger but, thankfully at least, it did not seem of been equipped with any weapons other than itself. Meeth was already bruised, mainly from dodging, Rathiel was coping better in thanks to his earth heritage.... but they couldn't hold too much longer.
Slinking was not Mercy's forte, but his size was a hindrance at present, and his rider was a tactician... so he knew brute force was not always the way, and he could 'see' the robots core.. located at the top of its back, which when facing head on would be impossible to hit.... Not that he was gonna hit it.... much. Focused as the robot was on the rider, its programming at present not allowing for other scenarios, it failed to sense the small wyvern climbing up and digging its talons in.. for it couldn't feel, the same way it threw of the damage already caused by Meeth and Rathiel. And there... in front of Mercy was the thin panel covering the yellow core.. powered by pure electrical current. "STUPID ROBOT" Mercy screeched as it charged towards his rider again, talons shredding the protective paneling ... and digging into the core below.... just as he let whatever control he had over his thunder magic (aka none) go wild.
The robot jerked as electric went wild, overloading its systems, a scream of sorts sounding as the it started to overheat. Rathiel darted forwards covering Meeth hiding behind the already damaged central doors as a massive explosion ensured..... destroying the robot... and the majority of the facility, smoke billowing into the sky. "Ouch." Rathiel muttered, the green glow faded after the instinctual use of earth magic to buff himself.. the force had still hurt... just no lasting damage and Meeth at least was safe. A second voice sounded as Mercy appeared. "Woopsie?" He coughed, antenna weaving, both with pride and worry. Meeth shook herself, wincing as the aches and pains caught up with her. "Think we may need to work on that, Mercy." Was her comment, though... without it they'd be hard pressed to of defeated it. Looking around at the ruined building, she didn't hold out much hope to salvage any notes.... but she assumed the rebellion would be here soon. "Lets head back." She said. "Yes... though Meiron is not going to be happy." Rathiel commented using a wing to allow Mercy to ride on his back. "He'll probably mention the hot springs and been grounded....." Came the amused chirp, Meeth blushed and glared... seems the older merc had been spending too much time with Nyx....
