[PA] Shear Rebellion - Progression …. Blowing up a research facility
Despite the sheer ruin of the robot and the facility it had been built in, the Rebellion had managed to find some documents which pertained to another, more established facility, fully automated and with significantly better production ability than the one Mercy had literally blown up. Further documents and information had shown the first facility had been research and testing, and once plans for the constructs had been finalised it worked be moved to the ‘production’ facility. Of course, it’s actually location was a bit more of a mystery, and as a result it had taken the Rebellion a few weeks to actually locate it, much further north, in the frigid snow covered mountains. one of the least welcoming terrains imaginable Not that Meeth massively noticed the cold for the most part, in fact one the things she’d since learned that she had more issues with heat than cold, but she also wasn’t stupid, just because she didn’t notice it as much didn’t mean it couldn’t cause damage. Thus, she had a much thicker coat than her normal black cloak as Rathiel ran over the terrain, the star studded sky moonless as Mercy clung to her back.
The gold tipped snout peered over her shoulder. “There.” He chirped, following the waving antennae she caught sight of the metallic door, unlike the previous facility, no attempt had been to hide it, no instead it relied on the brutal cold to keep people and threats away… and very resistant metal. Rathiel drew to halt, still some distance away to allow Meeth and Mercy to dismount, bags saddled across his sides… and which Mercy had been adamantly told to stay away from, while not heavy, they make waking a hindrance… and contained alchemical concoctions designed to blow things up, the last thing they wanted was for Mercy to accidently trigger one. No, Meeth had a more important role for the youngster. “Just remember to keep hidden if any sentries appear.” Mercy nodded, for despite his youth and small size (at present) Meeth was planning to use his knack of accidentally blowing stuff up to snd this facility sky high… well mountain high at least.
Meeth watched Mercy waddle across the open ground hiding behind rocks when the scout beams flashed, his antenna en sparking just before it did do, so she could only assume he was using some aspect of his thunder heritage to sense it. Rathiel let a sigh if relief, much to her amusement, seemed he’d been more worried about the accidental sparks than he’d let on. Eventually Mercy vanished into small vents of to one side, while a not much was know these vents we’re important to release the steam the facility built up.
The plan was far more simple than it seemed, once Mercy was inside, Meeth and Rathiel would use the concoctions to wreak havoc on the entrance and vents, and if it was mampnned, either by construct or person, they’d deal with them. This would allow Mercy time to explore, to find whatever looked to be powering it… and blow it up. She cocked her head at the red striped dragon and he nodded, slowly clambering out of the saddles and charging coward, straight into a flash of the sensor, alarms blaring mere moments later as his powerful tail smashed into the metallic door with a audible snap of brute force. To his side well enough away, an explosion rocked, the first of the alchemists concoctions striking true.
The sound of the alarms and distant explosions registered as Mercy crept through the vents, pausing at intervals to avoid the steam, he gurgled happily, for while he knew his thunder magic was unstable at present, his rider wasn’t ignoring it, or telling him off, in fact she was using it… and that was why he adored her (well that and everything else). He paused, listening to the voices below, Unfortunately it wasn’t a language he spoke. While he would of like to of gathered more info for Meeth, he knew the sooner he could set of a reaction, the less chance this facility had to mobilise any constructs it did have. so He continued onwards, ever inwards, his magic leading him forward… even as sparks started to flicker around his antennae He was getting close…
In many ways it was a fight of attrition, while Meeth lobbied the potion flasks at the facility m specifically at most of the vents she could see, Rathiel took great pleasure in totalling the small robots which the facility had deployed. She could fee Mercy‘s glee and a hum through their bond, a signal that he was starting to play about with his thunder magic, and in this she had to trust the youngster. Suddenly the robots froze, and the air felt electrified … Meeth threw the last flask and started To back of, Rathiel changing from attack to waiting for the smaller dragon to re-emerge. despite if going against her instinct, Meeth knew the explosion could cause her great damage, Rathiel with his earth heritage could take some of it and he could protect Mercy.
Mercy darted back along the vents, no longer blowing the steam out to stabilise itself, the pressure building, he pushed at the magic to hold it off. There, he tu,bled out on Rathiel!s back and the larger dragon charged off, Mercy caught sight of his rider ahead and breathed, she was out of range… maybe…. Rathiel’s charge brought him alongside Meeth and with ease she leapt onto his back continuing to put more distance between them and the now charged facility. The pressure building… building….building…..and then it released, the shockwave spreading outwards, and even at the distance they were all three felt it. Chest heaving, Rathiel drew to a halt, and turned… to see smoke billowing out of a mountain., or what remained of one …… “I’m building a Reputation, from robotic construct to facility… booooom” Mercy chortled gleefully, rubbing his head against Meeth.
