Adventure Job Unlock | Dingo

The tide rolled lazily above the reef, silver sunlight bending through the water in wavering ribbons. Dingo moved beneath it with practiced silence, her paws brushing over coral-smoothed stone as she stalked through the shallows alone. The sea always seemed to sound louder when no one else was around. Clicks from distant crustaceans echoed through the reef, mingling with the sound of shifting current. Dingo liked those sounds. They reminded her that the ocean was alive, always watching, always moving. She paused beside a cluster of crimson coral fans, ears twitching forward. Her amber eyes narrowed on the sandy trench ahead. There was movement. A flicker of silver scales vanished beneath a rock shelf.

Dingo lowered herself instantly, shoulders rolling as she crept closer. Hunger sat heavily in her stomach after an unsuccessful morning hunt, and she had no intention of letting this catch escape. The fish was quick, she could already tell from the sharp darting motion beneath the stone but quick prey only made the hunt sweeter. The dingo slipped into deeper water, cool currents sliding through her fur. Tiny bubbles escaped her muzzle as she submerged her head, watching carefully. The fish peeked from the rocks again. Dingo lunged.

Water exploded around her forelegs as her jaws snapped shut, but the fish twisted away at the last second, vanishing deeper into the reef. She surfaced with a snort, glaring into the water. “Stupid fish,” she muttered. Her ear twitched, an annoyed movement. Most hunters would have given up and searched for easier prey. Dingo wasn’t most hunters. She circled the reef shelf slowly, nose close to the water’s surface. The fish had disappeared into a narrow maze of coral, but it didn’t entirely leave no trace. Tiny puffs of disturbed sand drifted from the opposite side of the rocks. Dingo grinned. She moved silently around the formation, each step deliberate. The bright corals around her swayed gently with the current, nothing but beautiful distractions. Dangerous distractions too, if a hunter forgot to pay attention.

Dingo never forgot. The fish burst from the coral suddenly, attempting to flee into open water but it was too slow. Dingo sprang forward with explosive force, claws scraping stone as she plunged after it. Water churned around her body while she twisted sharply, jaws clamping around flashing silver. Success! She surfaced with the fish secured between her teeth, breathing hard but triumphant. The creature thrashed briefly before going still. Dingo climbed onto a flat stretch of warm rock rising just above the tide. Water streamed from her fur while she settled down with her catch. The ocean breeze carried the scent of salt, stirring the thicker fur around her neck.

For a while, she simply sat there. Alone. The reef stretched endlessly around her, vibrant and untamed beneath the clear water. No voices interrupted the crash of waves. She didn’t really like it, sure she grew up alone but now she had dragons, a family of sorts. It felt weird now, here with none of them to back her up or chatter amongst themselves. Dingo tore into the fish with sharp teeth, savoring the fresh taste of salt and meat. Below her, small creatures scattered between the corals, already returning to their routines now that the hunt had ended. A larger shadow moved far beneath the reef shelf. Dingo’s ears flicked, but she didn’t retreat. Whatever lurked below wasn’t hunting her today. She swallowed the last bite of fish and licked seawater from her muzzle before rising to her feet again. Hunger was gone, but the restless energy beneath her skin remained. The ocean still had plenty to offer before sunset.
