[Gift] The 11th Hour | Snow Plow

The winter morning was cold enough to turn every breath into pale clouds drifting through the air. Snow covered the fields in thick uneven layers, stretching across the farmland like a white blanket beneath the gray sky. Fence posts barely poked through the drifts, and the narrow roads between the fields had almost disappeared entirely overnight. Honeycomb snorted softly as she stamped one heavy foot into the snow. The bulky female dragoness stood harnessed to a large wooden snow plow reinforced with iron runners. Thick ropes stretched across her broad shoulders and chest while frost clung lightly to the cream-colored fur that covered most of her body. Her curved antennae and golden patterned scales stood out brightly against the pale winter landscape.

Behind her, her rider Warrick tightened the final strap. “You ready, girl?” Honeycomb huffed proudly, that was answer enough. With a heavy pull, she leaned forward into the harness. The plow groaned behind her before finally lurching through the deep snow. Thick drifts rolled aside in heavy waves while the iron blade carved a clean path across the frozen field road. Snow clung to Honeycomb’s feet and lower legs as she continued steadily onward. The work was exhausting, but she didn’t slow down. Her powerful frame handled the weight easily, muscles shifting beneath her thick scales each time she pulled the plow through another stubborn drift.

Her rider walked alongside her, occasionally brushing snow from the blade while praising her constantly. “That’s it. Easy now.” Honeycomb flicked her tail happily. By midday, long clear paths cut neatly between the fields where snowbanks once stood. Though tired, Honeycomb stood proudly beside the cleared land, steam rising from her warm body into the freezing air.
