[Gift] The 11th Hour | Memento
He was an old dragon, ancient and wise in his many years, a reminder of days gone by. Days never to return but still to reminisce or perhaps they were days to never be brought up again. Dark days that seemed as if they would never end. Horrid days that would give the toughest dragons nightmares for the rest of their long agonizing lives. He found himself alone on this bright night, staring deeply at his reflection in the lake lit beautifully by the moon above. He tilted his bearded face before reaching forward and lightly touching the water. His reflection flickered dramatically before the water stilled again, a perfect mirror yet again. Except there was something else in the water, something past himself, a flicker of glowing light.
“Show yourself.” His voice was gruff, riddled with age, but not aggressive. Not yet. He figured there might be something else living in this great lake, there was no way the beautiful body of water was empty. He watched as the light got closer and the small shadow grew big and bigger until there was a head breaching the top of the lake. The head was massive, bigger than himself and he dared not guess how big the rest of the beast was. Despite her, at least he thought it was a her, size there was a nervousness in the way her eyes darting anywhere but at the much MUCH smaller dragon. Han Lau was sure if she had had front hands she would be fiddling with whatever was nearest. He let a small smile grace his aged lips. When he saw the bright light of youth twinkling in her nervous eyes he was reminded once again of his own age. Old. Ancient. A memento of days gone by.
