Ripple moved slowly through the open field, his dark purple body carrying a streak of color that seemed almost too bright against his scales. His most noticeable feature was the aurora marking running across him, with teal first, followed by pink and then blue. The colors remained distinct rather than blending into one another, creating a layered appearance across his body. The teal formed the upper portion of the marking, while the pink sat over the blue, giving the pattern its distinctive aurora-like appearance.

The marking was especially noticeable when Ripple moved. Each shift of his body caused the colors to change position slightly, making it seem as though the light was flowing across his scales. His wings rested along the sides of his head, functioning as his ears, while the two long feathered plumes extending from his head moved gently with him. The plumes framed the upper portion of his head, adding another layer of movement to an otherwise calm dragon.

Ripple eventually came to a stop.

Ampere was nearby.

The male dragon looked completely different from Ripple, even though he carried the same unusual type of marking. His body was a dusty green, with his crystalline wings extending from his body and continuing all the way down its length. The wings created a striking silhouette around him, their artificial structures giving his entire body a sharp, unusual appearance.

His aurora marking was just as striking, but its colors were completely different.

Electric blue and electric green traveled across Ampere's dusty green body in vivid streaks. Instead of the softer combination of colors seen on Ripple, Ampere's colors seemed brighter and more intense. The blue and green stood against his dusty green body, making the marking immediately noticeable wherever it appeared. Some portions of the marking appeared broad and solid, while others narrowed into thinner lines that followed the contours of his body.

When Ampere shifted his weight, the electric colors seemed to move with him.

Ripple and Ampere stood beside one another, making the differences between their markings impossible to miss. Ripple's colors remained clearly layered, while Ampere's were much more sharply contrasted. They shared the same general idea, but their markings had developed into completely different patterns.

A third dragon approached them.

She was surrounded by what could only be described as a living avalanche, the constant snowfall following her wherever she went. Snowflakes drifted around her body in every direction, occasionally settling against her dark scales and numerous spikes before being swept away by another movement of the storm. A snowy owl remained with her, moving through the falling snow and staying close to the dragon as she traveled.

Her aurora marking appeared through the snowfall.

Blue and green covered portions of her dark body, but even those colors were different from Ampere's. The marking did not have the same sharp, electric appearance. Instead, the blue and green seemed to spread more naturally across her scales, becoming partially hidden whenever the snowfall grew thicker.

Her spikes surrounded portions of the marking, creating an additional contrast between the glowing colors and the darkness of her body. Small star-shaped markings were scattered among the scales and spikes, adding to the appearance of the design without taking attention away from the aurora marking itself.

The snowy owl passed between the three dragons before returning to the female's side.

The three dragons remained together for a while, each displaying the same unusual feature in a completely different way.

Ripple's aurora was made from teal, pink, and blue beneath the pink, the colors remaining in their distinct layers across his body. Ampere's was electric blue and electric green, brighter and more sharply defined against his dusty green form. The female's was also blue and green, but her's blended into her dark scales beneath the constant movement of her avalanche.

The three remained together as the snowfall continued to drift around them. Ripple's feathered plumes moved gently in the air, Ampere's long crystalline wings stretched along his body, and the female's spikes disappeared and reappeared through the snow. The owl circled once around the female before settling close beside her.

After a quiet moment, Ripple began walking again.

Ampere followed, his crystalline wings shifting slightly with each step. The female moved with them, her avalanche trailing around the group while the snowy owl kept pace overhead.

Their paths carried them across the open field, leaving the three different aurora markings moving together through the landscape, each one unmistakable in its own way.
