D-049: Miyu's Lagoon

Owned by Returu

Theme of Secluded Lagoon

Hidden within the mists of the seas of Sherok, this ‘lagoon’ is a safe haven for Miyu and her dragon companion; though it’s more aptly a small island. A dormant volcano stands guard over the clear waters, its sister peaks serve as a barrier against the dangerous waters, helping to shelter the lagoon against the immense storms that rage periodically. Directly beneath the rocky mountains, a small but well established ‘forest’ dwells, providing some shelter for the few creatures that call it home, their species having long since diverged from others. A golden beach stretches from the forest to the water’s’ edge, following the rocks above and providing a soft surface for aquatic creatures to venture onto land; at the end of the ‘arms’. rock stacks mark the edge of the lagoon, silent warriors against whatever may come through the mists. All around the lagoon in the deeper waters lie sunken ships, some having clashed with the stacks others… their stories await. Beneath the slumbering volcano, the entrance to Miyu’s and Llyr’s home gapes wide, soft sands, leaves and other bits and pieces provide a ‘nest’ where they sleep, faint heat rising from below providing a snug and sheltered den.

A faint crack, and the rocking of the egg currently lying in the protective coils of her tails woke Miyu from her sleep; sitting up slowly she looked towards the cave entrance, where sunlight filtered through, light enough so that she could see the egg that had drawn her here rocking, a great crack already apparent. Focusing completely on the egg, she ignored the faint hunger sensation, humming softly as if to reassure the youngster, finally after several more minutes the egg shattered, and a small, teal colored creature wriggled amongst the nest; 6 tentacles waving and coiling around its own tail and two long whiskers feeling around, touching Miyu as the dragon righted itself, digging its flippers in as it raised its head, and looking straight up at Miyu, meeping softly, as it tried to clamber further onto her. A faint sense of ‘mine’ coming from the youngster, even as it fell asleep, exhausted from the exertion of hatching.

After a while though, Miyu nudged the dragon, a male from what she could sense through the nascent bond that had formed as soon as he had hatched; she was hungry, and she could sense he was as well, or would be when he stirred. [“Time to wake up, the storm has ended and there is bound to some food nearby.”] Waking finally, the male crawled off Miyu and slowly started to drag himself towards the cave entrance; whiskers moving widely as he used them to find the easiest way over the sands. [“Well, you’re certainly nothing like either He Yao or Essence.”] She commented to him, following the dragon, if he struggled in truth she would help, but he felt ‘strong’ to her. Suddenly he stopped and looked back at her, again the impression that he was ‘neither’ of the two dragons and just himself the most prominent. [“I meant in looks.”] She followed up, passing him and halting once just outside, eyes scanning the area fully, she’d only caught glimpses of ot during the storm, in the sunlight…. The lagoon was perfect, and it made the one her sire and his pod had found seem small in comparison.

As she stood there looking around, tails twining around each other constantly, the youngster continued walking, picking his way through the trees and towards the sheltered waters, it was easier once he was on sand, his wings moving as if trying to cut through the air. Before he touched the water though, he looked out beyond the arms of the lagoon, and Miyu got the feeling he was communicating with something in the deeper ocean; coming up next to him, she ran a claw over his snout gently, one of his whiskers coming up to twine around her arm before she slipped into the waters, surfacing some way out, as she turned to watch him, the waters calm and warm in the sunlight. [“What should i call you?”] She asked, [“The sea.”] He responded calmly, and quite clearly along the mental pathway which she’d been using; following suit he pulled himself into the water bogged sands until he was deep enough to move in the properly…. Or try to at least, he kept turning as his tentacles moved wildly, pulling him in the soft currents. Miyu swam closer and after a few tries, he seemed to settle somewhat. [“The Sea?”] an impression more than a name, but they brought to mind another word….. [“Llyr?”] The youngster gurgled happily, and swum after her tail, his tentacles coiled around his own long tail as he used his flippers to swim. [“Llyr, then.”] Miyu said, swimming deeper into the waters, as he chased after her, safe in the sheltered grasp of the secluded lagoon.
