Legacy Traits

Legacy traits are five marks that have had a drastic design change. To preserve the old markings and design opportunities for those eggs and dragons, dragons with an origin on a separate site (ccbestiary and deviantART) may show legacy traits. Direct children of these dragons may also show Legacy effects, though they will not pass it on through further breeding. You can find the origin on the description tab of the MYO or Character. Updating designs with these Origins may still use the Legacy effects, even if they didn't originally. When using a Legacy effect, make sure to mention it in your design comments, or it will be judged with current rules!

Legacy Glass (Circuitry)

Glass was formerly a circuitry marking. As such, it is described with the name Circuitry. The Legacy ID cutoff is 1000, as well as any event dragons that show Legacy Circuitry. Creates a circuit board pattern on the dragon. It may be small, or it may cover the entire dragon. You are allowed to use any two colors, as long as gradients are smooth on the lines. (Adjacent lines may be different colors, but the transition on the lines themselves must be smooth.) It may cover the dragon’s entire body or small portions of it. The lines should be thin and close together, like a real circuit board.

Circuitry can come in a variety of shapes. There are a few constants, though. It will have at least one line and at least one shape. Lines will be very thin/efficient. Shapes will be located on the end of the lines. While some decorative dots and lines are allowed, they should be set out in a clear, non-natural pattern. Adding a bend to the line is a good way to ensure it’s seen as circuitry. It should have a solid edge. Circuitry may be one solid color or a gradient between two colors. The gradient should be smooth. You may layer it as desired. It will never go above Top Layer markings, though. It may affect modifiers, skin, nails, ears, and similar things where it touches. It can also appear on modifiers that are not touching the marking.

Charged Circuitry may glow. In addition, each line may have a different color/gradient (only when there are separate lines).

Marked

Legacy Marked creates one solid patch of color that may be any hue. It should cover, at max, half of a wing (or one fifth of the body on wingless dragons). Its shape will be any natural marking. This can be a uniquely colored mask, a dot on the forehead, a single stripe, or a very small underbelly marking. It will never resemble an artificial or geometric shape. If there are stray patches, they must be minimal and clearly associated with the marking. You can’t create multiple stripes or spots with this marking. It is a Pigment Trait. Charged Legacy Marked may cover up to 1/3rd of the dragon.

Leafy

Legacy Leafy may follow the current rules of Foliage (click here).

Foliage (Bib)

Legacy Foliage is usually written as Bib on genos. It creates a patch of color beneath the jaw of your dragon. It can be any solid color or display a gradient of two colors. It may have solid or soft edges. The bottom of bib may fade out as a gradient. It will otherwise have solid edges. Bib may be any color. Additionally, it may have a gradient with any other color. It does not follow elemental color rules. This marking can go above or beneath other markings. It will not cover top layer markings. It may affect modifiers, skin, nails, ears, and similar things where it touches. It does not wrap around the neck unless it is Charged. The minimum and maximum coverage are shown below.

Do Emissaries count for Legacy breeding?

No, they do not pass on Legacy traits, even though they might display them.

I received my dragon from an old event, but its Origin isn't linked. Can these display traits?

Old site events that gave out designs (Festival of the Night, Festival of the Day, exchanges, Mystery of the Wilds, and so on) may pass on Legacy traits.

There is an egg in Pixie's Pile/Aurelia's hatchery with an old Origin. Can I use Legacy effects on their design?

Yes, you can!

Do I have to use Legacy Effects?

No, they are optional. You may change your mind about it later, as well, so long as the trait is active on upload.

Can I use Both Effects?

When making a trait, you must choose one or the other. You can't have both Bib and Foliage on a dragon. However, you can mix and match different traits--you can have Legacy Bib and current Glass on the same dragon.

My dragon's parent has a Legacy effect, but the parent's origin isn't from CCbestiary or deviantART. Do they get a legacy effect?

If the parent does not have an origin on the old sites, then their children do not get a Legacy effect.
